Student teams from about 50 countries all over the world participate in this fair. We will need about 200 interpreters to work with the student teams on both a conversational and scientifically informative level. While volunteer opportunities are available for the entire week, opportunities are also available from 4 hours, 1 day, 2 days and/or the entire week. Interpreters will shadow the teams during registration process, project setup, and public visitation on the day of judging. Below are the interpreter volunteer opportunities that are available. If you find an opportunity that interests you, please fill out the Intel ISEF Interpreter registration form at this link. Upon receiving your request, we will respond to you within 2 working days.

Social/Conversational Interpreters (assisting International participants with basic translation of information). 100 volunteers needed.

Requirements

• Ability to translate normal conversation and basic written materials (maps, signs, directional information,etc.)
• Available for extended periods of time (minimum of 1 full day)
• Ability to work with people from different ethnic and educational backgrounds

Technical Interpreters (assisting international finalists with translating their project information to judges during the judging process). 110 volunteers needed.

Requirements

• Must have a technical background and knowledge of the discpline in which they are translating, plus the mastery of both written and oral communcations skills
• Available for extended periods of time (minimum of 1 full day)
• Able to work with both adults and students
• Ability to work with people from different ethnic and educational backgrounds
